Attention IFIS Users:
The Iowa Flood Center (IFC) has experienced communication difficulties with several sensors in our networks. A significant number of sites concurrently went offline or become intermittent in January 2024. This is a suspected Verizon service-related issue. We are in contact with Verizon to determine the cause and resolve the problem.

Although the affected IFC stream gauges are not currently transmitting data to the IFC database, they otherwise continue to operate normally, taking measurements and storing data until communication is restored. Dependent on the offline duration, some or all the unreported data will be eventually transmitted to the IFC database.

We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the issues. In many instances, the affected sites often resume communication without IFC intervention. Site visits and fieldwork will be performed as needed, ASAP.
